Here is some personal WPHS TRIVIA. Dr. David Price, a Winter Park general surgeon, had two sons that followed me from WPHS to Emory University. I graduated from Winter Park High School (WPHS) in 1961. Alan graduated from WPHS in the class of ’62. Alan went on to become a dentist like I did. Then Chad came to Emory a year later. He went on to become an orthopedic surgeon. In the summer of 1997 I called Chad after seeing a program about ‘leg lengthening’ on the Discovery Channel. Chad told me that his partner who he called a ‘medical genius’ had developed a way to lengthen bones from the ‘inside of the bone.’
My left leg had been badly burned as an infant. The resulting scar tissue made that leg smaller and shorter than the right leg. Many childhood surgeries (11) had been able to make the leg only two inches shorter than the other. The last was at the end of the summer before our junior year. I was fifteen.
In the summer of ninety seven Dr. Chad Price referred me to Dr. J. Dean Cole. Dr. Cole miraculously lengthened my leg ‘from the inside’ over period of three months. There was little pain. I was able to practice dentistry for about 5 hours a day during the lengthening process. From October of ninety seven until January of ninety eight Dr. Cole worked his miracle on my leg. For the first time in my life my legs were the same length. Forever Grateful to all who were part of the process…
