One Hot August Morning…
…on the Horsepasture River in North Carolina
The Flooded Salmon River (Idaho)…
I ended up in the river in July years ago. The late snow melt flooded the Salmon River leaving Papa wet and disappointed. Our brave dog, Henri, leaped into the water to save me….
The coming adventure….
I have loved fly fishing since my dental school days in Atlanta. Then there were my cutthroat trout years in New Mexico and the West. Many years wadding in the rivers and streams of western North Carolina came later.
In July our family ventures to Montana. Reservations have been made with Orvis for EVERYONE to cast a fly in hopes of landing a trout…

You will have a great experience. The water should be full and clear and the fly hatches in fine shape. I hope everyone lands a big one! And I hope all catch a bunch of small and medium fish! Last trout I caught were in NY 3 years ago this month. Water was still too high to be fun and too cold for the fly hatches that should have started. But I did catch several browns and a 14 inch brookie!!!
Now I am waiting for the bluegills to start spawning down here for some popper fishing!
