Christmas in Montana…
The video is dated. The cameras back then were analogue not digital. They was large and had no ‘stabilizing features’. So I apologize ahead of time for the quality…enJOY the look back!
Memories from 31 years ago when the Smiths, the Tatros, the Burnseds and April Tucker Young spent Christmas in Montana…
What wonderful memories!
We skied Big Sky Ski Area in Bozeman and snowmobiled through Yellowstone. Montana is indeed God’s Country. The people of Montana are special!
Montana’s people are warm, gracious and humble folks. The night before we were to fly home David Burnsed, Lee Tatro and I drove to the airport to put some of our luggage in ‘lockers’ so that the next morning packing, loading and leaving would be simpler. When we got to the Bozeman Airport, which is one of the most beautiful I have ever had the pleasure to be in, we discovered there were no ‘lockers’. The young lady behind the counter, who was a student working the night shift, asked if she could help. We explained our dilemma. She said, “Here just put your bags behind the ticket counter until you come tomorrow.” Of course our luggage was safe and sound until we arrived to go home….
I Love Montana and her people!
On the Road again
We enjoy traveling to visit freinds and family. We have coming and going do to an art! This video is from 2010.
Gone Fishin’
Fishing memories over the years and thanks to Jan (Kate) for putting up with it! Video from 2011…
Toes in the water
Though I no longer drink or smoke anything, Zac Brown inspired this Florida boy with Georgia tries to make this video…hope you enjoy it! This video was made in 2010-11.
Mom’s Hydrangeas
This video was inspired by Mom’s Hydrangeas at the Sapphire house. They were gorgeous every year! This video I made in 2011.
New York Trip
In June 2012 we travelled to East Aurora, New York, near Buffalo, for my Aunt Olives Memorial. We made a leisurely trip of it.
By The Creek
I love the water in many ways. Water is therapeutic, just being by it or being in it. Our house in the mountains had a small creek running through it. I called it ‘Smith Creek’ since the locals said it had no name. Most of these photos are of that creek. These photos and words reflect some of what I felt by the creek.…
Yin Yoga
I began practicing yoga near the end of 2009. Sometimes it is vigorous astanga yoga. Other days it maybe a hard bike ride followed by yin yoga (restorative). A few of years ago I listened to this piece of music while doing yin yoga. This video came to mind. In 1999 we traveled to Scotland, the home of Grandpa Smith. These are scenes from that trip. The video was filmed in analog so the quality is not that great but it still conveys the meaning of the video. Grandpa Smith is supposed to have played as a boy in the castle ruins in the first scene…
Waterfalls of Western NorthCarolina
This video I made in 2010. The photos were taken over the years. Some feature Amy and Erin with their friends years ago. The Western part of North Carolina, where our house was, has some of the most spectacular waterfalls east of the Rockies. The reason for this huge number of waterfalls is because where North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina meet is the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Here the mountains drop off sharply to the foothills. This creates the perfect terrain for waterfalls. We have seen many of the falls over the years. The music is by Enya. I really enjoyed making this video: syncing the music, words and photos was fun…enJOY More of God’s wonders!
St. Francis’ Prayer (from my November 23, 2014 post)
I read the Prayer of St. Francis yesterday morning. Feeling Blessed this video came to mind. The images are from over the years as I remembered the Blessings I have received. The music was given to me by a young friend.
I find it most difficult to practice the principles of the ‘Prayer of St. Francis’ with those closest to me, family especially…But that is where it is most needed and important, I believe. My Dad used to say that he was lucky but I knew him well enough to know he meant he was Blessed.
Labor Day 2012 everyone met at the mountain house…The fishing was so good that I could not get video or photos of all the Grandkids catching fish. All the fish were bass about the same size. Jarrett caught two good sized bass. One he caught on a spinner bait. He impressed me….:)
In October Jan and I would closed the Sapphire House for the winter. It was a quiet visit just the two of us. Simple pleasures.
Skye loved her trips to the river………..
We do live in a ‘World of Wonder.’ This is a video of some recent scenes from around our yard. The song is by Ronnie Milsap who I was privileged to befriend while we were both students at Emory. He always had a smile on his face. He is one of the most Gifted people I have ever met! It was a blessing to know him.
Some of western North Carolina’s beauty…! This video is a few years old but still captures the beauty of the mountains….
My golf and diving buddies again traveled to the Florida Keys for a week of lobstering, diving, spear fishing and fishing. It’s an annual tradition going back decades.
Happy Anniversary Princess…(from 2011)
