Thoughts on Forgiveness

“So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire…”(James 3:5-6 NASB)

“Of all the features and factors of parenthood, this may be the one I like the least. It pains me to realize that my thoughtless words hurt my children. The writer of James paints a powerful picture of the tongue as a small fire that can set a forest ablaze. And so today, whether with our children or our coworkers, with our spouse or partner, with the cashier or barista, let us speak gentle Blessings to one another.”-Forward Day by Day

And yet we must be easy on ourselves also, remembering that God sent His Son so that we might be forgiven. So if He forgives us who are we to not forgive ourselves. I have learned along with seeking forgiveness I must change (mend) my ways or curb my tongue. I am aware that darkness wants to keep us in the dark but we are given the fire and light of the Spirit. We are to be Children of the Light…That is our hope and faith….DKS
